Wondering how to wear the biker jacket trend without looking like an addition to the Hells Angels?
It can be worn at night over a mini dress for a glam-rock look like the models at fashion week or during the day with skinny jeans and blouses or plain t-shirts like Kate Moss. Why not go in the opposite direction by wearing it over girly summer dresses too, in honour of Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller! You just need to make the outfit work for you and that begins with buying the right one.
Buy a good fabric leather – It will last longer and give a softer feel which will move with you rather than against you.
What can you wear it with? – The jacket will only be an investment if you will wear it with what you have already, you shouldn’t have to buy a wardrobe around it.
Buy the right style – There are harsh versions out there with logo’s and studs on but also light girly versions too – think cropped, fringed and worn styles.
Wearing it with total opposites could ruin your look – DON’T wear with silk or the obvious Converse or studded boots. Instead put with plain pieces – think GAP and Topshop basics.
Here are the jackets I’ve chosen for this ultra cool-stylish look. All from Mint Velvet.
Who are Mint Velvet?
The Mint Velvet story began with three women, inspired by a desire for something new, setting out to create a collection which was both relaxed and glamorous, and felt luxe without the price tag. All modern working mothers, they wanted to create something by women for women, which fit in with their lifestyle and made them feel confident and sexy.
“Liz, Jane and Lisa, who are behind Mint Velvet, have achieved so much in such a short time, particularly considering the set up was in the midst of the recession, and are truly iconic figures to other women wishing to start up in business. They make work life fun and interesting – everyone who works for Mint Velvet adores the brand and the team. It’s great environment to work in.”
