A Storm is Brewing!

It’s amazing how such small jewellery can make a girl so excited!!

And excited I was when I saw this range of jewellery from Storm in a Teacup (my knees are starting to go weak now at how cute the name is too!) I stumbled upon a gem of a website and hope you love the snapshot of their range shown below as much as I do…!

2 hearts bracelet

Cold as ice ring

The Emma bracelet in navy

The Lemony Snicket bracelet

The range compliments the next item so well you could wear all of her bracelets together on one arm…

Laundry Boutque

The Altringham store opened in March 2011 on Stamford New Road. The boutique is the best around by far and has been caterpulted into the limelight and is the hot topic of conversation on the lips of fashionistas

Owner Laura Warburton thinks the reason for early success is down to the emphasis and time that goes into buying, and says “we are constantly ‘out there’ hunting for cool new labels and cherry picking only the very best pieces.  I have a rule – I won’t have anything in the boutique that I don’t adore myself.  Our customers are very disconcerted; they are bored with the high street and want something different.”

Looking at the store above the first impression is that of luxury and high fashion, even before you step inside the gem of a boudiour! The rails, shelves and hat stands are dripping with an array of beautiful feminine silks and jerseys in muted pastels and vintage prints. Antique looking lace scarves, pretty dresses, tops and jewellery are hung haphazardly from mirrors, mannequins and antique furniture.

This is one dressing up box every big girl should play in.

Laundry’s pieces are so unique and feminine. Featuring are floor length maxi dresses, this summers hottest trend, in the prettiest prints and fabrics…

ethnic inspired casual wear with 60’s detailing features highly amongst the distressed mirrors and duck egg decor…

…as does feminine touches such as embellishment and jewelled detailing…

Above is Ella King, Megan Warburton, Lucy Shaw, Laura Warburton, Imogen Massey and Kate Gosling at the launch of Altrincham’s newest addition.

I think this is the crème de la crème of up and coming fashion boutiques I’ve featured on LLLB. It has such potential and seems she has thought of everything! I can’t wait to see what happens next for Laura and will be looking forward to seeing many more products available on the web too!

Rhinestones, Clutches and Vintage Touches.

“The patina of age merely adds to the beauty of the piece.”

This weeks boutique feature is on Catwalk Creative who have been featured in several publications including Vintage Inspirations Spring 2010 and Spring 2011 from the Vintage Fashion Guild and BBC Homes & Antiques magazine. The site is a maze of ‘vintage-ness’ with collections left right and centre and you really need to rummage around to find some hidden gems like the ones I found below!

Sapphire Crystal and Rhinestone Earrings c.1940’s/1950’s

They are the Kate Middletons of your ears and would look stunning with her Sapphire engagement ring. Wear with a plain outfit to let them shine such as floaty chiffon tops and wrap dresses. They are certain to add glamour to any outfit with the fourteen baguette, clear rhinestones running off the central multi-faceted sapphire crystal stone.

Vintage Sequin and Faux Pearl Clutch Bag

Vintage Sequin and Faux Pearl Clutch Bag

This exquisite vintage 60’s clutch bag is a year round wardrobe staple.  Decorated all over with aurora borealis sequins and faux pearls, the detail  looks like its worth much more than the £75 it is priced at.

Gold-Tone Hoop Earrings by Grosse c.1960’s

Clip earrings remind me of something my mother would have put in my dressing up box as a child. They look beautifully crafted with “Grosse© 1967 Germany” inscribed in them. This is the maker’s signature for Henkel & Grosse who made jewellery collections for Christian Dior, bearing Dior’s name. I would wear with ethnic inspired prints this summer and little else in terms of accessories.

1980’s Black Faux Leather Envelope Clutch Bag

A cheap vintage find, this 80’s envelope clutch bag with wrist handle has a modern touch to it with its simple design. Consequently an ability to work with the most casual of outfits too.

A Vintage Touch

How to make an old dress outshine the most expensive of outfits with one simple touch…

Attach this dress clip to the part you want to highlight on a garment and jazz up your wardrobe instantly. Dress clips are usually worn in the same way as a brooch. However, with a little imagination, they can be attached to many other items in your existing wardrobe to add instant ‘sparkle’ and interest. Try it on dresses but also hats, scarves, tops and add to chunky neck jewellery to update and individualise your look.

All You Need Is Love

” Too much of a good thing is wonderful”

Continuing the Battle of the Boutiques, here is another little gem I found!

Free Love Boutique was created by sisters, Joni and Katie Free, opening its doors in October 2005 on the beautiful island of Guernsey.

Each piece from every collection has been individually selected by the girls, who pride themselves on bringing new and exciting labels to Free Love for their valued and loyal customers to enjoy. So, whether it be that little black dress, gorgeous evening gown, sweet summer’s day frock, must-have clutch bag… or the, ‘can’t bear to walk away from’, dream pair of shoes… Free Love holds that something special just for you.

I’ve selected my favourites below!

This gorgeous crochet top and printed skirt are perfect for following the summer trend of pastels and feminine style. Show them off with a plain other half such as white trousers or a colour blocked tee and some ‘of the moment’ summer cork wedges.

Pair with: Tea and crumpets.

Darling Willa Top in Taupe £65, Darling Bridgette skirt in Spring Green £49.95.

As seen above, pair this colour block studded dress with a cropped jacket to add a rougher edge. Try a black biker jacket or brown suede style for a different take on the pretty dress.

Pair with: Vampy, kiss me now lips.

Almost Famous Spray Studded Dress in Orange £116.

With its floaty fabric and dainty ruffles, this LBD is the answer to your summer prayers. Light enough to keep cool and stylish enough to stay hot! Pair with bare legs and dainty heels.

Almost Famous Chiffon Pleated collar Dress in Black £122.

This large leopard print shoulder bag with patent trim and handles and gold buckle detail would work well with the above blue ruffle dress to add a hint of colour and pattern to a somewhat plain outfit.

Suzy Smith Iridessa Leopard Print Shoulder Bag £75.

This is my all time favourite item from Free Love due to its simplicity and expensive looking design, you can imagine A-Listers strutting the red carpet in it. The nude maxi encapsulates the feminine trend of summer perfectly with the draped fabric and sweetheart neckline.

Wear with: A single row of pearls or gold drop earings. Nothing more, nothing less.

Jarlo Yolanda Maxi Dress £85.

The nautical trend is still as present as ever and with this Henri Lloyd Elena Cardigan in Navy, £78 , you can follow it on through summer and Autumn too.

Wear with: wide legged jeans and a white ruffle top.

Don’t neglect what you think people wont see! Free Love’s ‘Haylie’ chiffon shoe boots in blush are stunning and will show of a great pedicure and glistening tan wonderfully. The peeptoes with sheer rouched upper, featuring a ruffle down the front, are ideal for updating a simple dress this summer, and are perfect for all the summer weddings people are having!

Chinese Laundry Haylie Chiffon Shoes in Blush £80

What The Press Are Saying

“Free Love is a must to visit. They stock fabulous dresses and shoes – in fact, I am wearing some right now!”
Dawn Porter, TV Presenter

“the boutique is awash with pieces to delight customers of all ages, shapes and budgets”
The Guernsey Press

Free Love captures a girls dream wardrobe in a few items, from the sheer seduction of the peep toe boots to the elegantly draped maxi dress. Everyone needs a bit of free love in their life. Each item works so well with the next, I’m excited to see what the future holds for the Guernsey girls!

Sugar Jack Daddy

I know its main purpose is a baby changing bag, but aren’t bags just that bit more useful when they can fit your life in too?

The collection from Sugarjack is so luxurious, having babies doesn’t seem so fashionably daunting after all! These must be the first and possibly the only range of bags, stylish enough to use after your baby has grown up! My favorite being the Ava for its girlishness and understated glam look, with the soft detailing and minimalistic features, although inside it still screams organization.

The Isabelle

Through the simplicity and demureness of this bag I can imagine it on the slender shoulder of Pippa Middleton or Gwyneth Paltrow, strolling down the cobbled alleyways of Italy. It’s so ideal for traveling, with all the compartments it really does allow you to be organised and look fabulous at the same time

The Holly

This on trend slouchy hobo changing bag oozes style and simplicity.  It doesn’t even look like it should be a baby changing bag it’s THAT fashionable!

The Rebecca

This oversized, catwalk inspired, white shopper with its large front pockets and spacious insides makes it the perfect organiser for work, study, play, holidays or family life in general. I love the expandable sides and outside pockets for all my holidaying essentials!

The Ava

The timeless Ava is available in metallic patent leather or a soft nude leather. I adore the detailed gold metalwork defining the trims of the design, which gives it a really lavish look. The whole design seems to flow in to the different parts of the bag too, every inch of baby pink working the ladylike trend perfectly.

The Hannah

Don’t you want your bag to age as beautifully as you do? With a hectic schedule a bag that fits an iPad in the front pocket, documents on the inside and travel or baby essentials too is more than practical.

Timeless, practical elegance.

The Gabi

Finally a bag that dads can use too!

To man bag, or not to man bag? If not I don’t mind taking advantage of the sumptuous, soft nappa leather this bag is made from! The leather cross body adjustable strap means you can wear it across the body and be hands free or as a shoulder bag for a different day look.  Super cool.

It’s A Vintage Summer

“A varied mix of outstanding one offs and timeless beauties.”

They feature exotic dresses, jackets and accessories all with a little extra character and uniqueness from all eras. They sell the cutest of cardis; dresses only seen in dreams; jackets you’ll pair with anything. You will find vintage designer, vintage high street, vintage couture, as well as the well-worn wonders section which are well-worn!!!

What I love is that the clothes which don’t quite cut the mustard are all donated to charity or shipped out to Africa for those a lot less fortunate than ourselves. The packaging; recyclable, re-useable or eco-friendly.

The Collection

The collection includes vintage dresses, tops and skirts from your grandmas wardrobe and unique accessories with collections based on festivals and holidays. Prices are ranging but you can be sure no one else will be wearing the same!

This 50s Sun dress in stunning peach stripe with gold thread is similar to modern styles on the  high street now.

A French Earthy Sun Dress from the 1950’s is the way to go in the cooler months. It has a typical slash neck, fitted body, metal zip to the side and short sleeves. Whats more it mushrooms when twirled!

This satin silk creation is simply stunning especially with the unique silver and gold silk floral embroidery hem.

The LBD was even popular in the 50’s! It’s beautifully made with metal zip to rear, 2 huge Sparkly piping embellishment to each pocket & bust.

For summer days opt for this vivid Green 50s style vintage sun dress. It’s lovely full flowing circle skirt is perfect for keeping cool. Wear with kitten heels and hair accessories and your good to go.

So many retailers are making these vintage ‘inspired’ bags – but why get a new one when this has so many stories behind it? keep with the trend and wear it across the body.
