The Trend

…Drop earrings

They add sparkle and glam to any outfit. Kate Middleton wears them religiously…even to row in, and they don’t have to break the bank…Here’s my pick of the best around.

I love the simplicity of these circular designed earrings, they have just the right about of glitz for everyday use and are more modern than the single drop earrings below.

Vintage Heiress Earrings – GlitzySecrets.com – £38

The cut of these Heiress earrings makes them sparkle and catch the light magically, and I love the fan design at the top. A typical evening, hair in a chignon pair.

Precious Heiress Earrings – GlitzySecrets.com – £28

A 3 in 1 earring…A diamond stud, a diamond design, a pearl finish – complimenting each other nicely.

Heiress of Pearl Earrings – £14 – GlitzySecrets.com

Cluster earrings don’t have to be reserved for weddings only as Martine Wester shows us with these stunning cluster pearl earrings.

Kate Continues Links Affair

Official Announcement: Kate Middleton wears Links of London Effervescence Stiletto Earrings at the ARK Gala Dinner

Kate Middleton chose to team her glamourous Jenny Packham dress with our Effervescence Stiletto earrings at Thursday’s Ark Gala Dinner; the Royal couple’s first official public engagement as newly-weds.

Kate stunned crowds at the charity event in a £3,800 Jenny Packman pink blush gown with  hand sewn Swarovski crystals and has become synonymous with wearing Links jewellery to media events, never letting us down with her choice. Seeing as the sales of her Reiss shift dress crashed the website the other week we can expect Jenny to be pleased her gown was the Princesses choice for the event!

Steal Her Style

That Kate Dress

The Shola dress which Kate wore to a meeting with US President Barack Obama last month, which is selling on eBay for up to £420, has been the most talked about dress since her wedding day and even managed to crash the Reiss website because of the sheer volume of people on it! The beige bondage creation shows off her svelte figure and toned and tanned arms perfectly.

Steal her style with matching court shoes, clutch and silver necklace.

With news that the £175 Reiss Shola Dress is set to be re-stocked I bring you a copy for just £30!

Rhinestones, Clutches and Vintage Touches.

“The patina of age merely adds to the beauty of the piece.”

This weeks boutique feature is on Catwalk Creative who have been featured in several publications including Vintage Inspirations Spring 2010 and Spring 2011 from the Vintage Fashion Guild and BBC Homes & Antiques magazine. The site is a maze of ‘vintage-ness’ with collections left right and centre and you really need to rummage around to find some hidden gems like the ones I found below!

Sapphire Crystal and Rhinestone Earrings c.1940’s/1950’s

£85

They are the Kate Middletons of your ears and would look stunning with her Sapphire engagement ring. Wear with a plain outfit to let them shine such as floaty chiffon tops and wrap dresses. They are certain to add glamour to any outfit with the fourteen baguette, clear rhinestones running off the central multi-faceted sapphire crystal stone.

Vintage Sequin and Faux Pearl Clutch Bag

£75.00

Vintage Sequin and Faux Pearl Clutch Bag

This exquisite vintage 60’s clutch bag is a year round wardrobe staple.  Decorated all over with aurora borealis sequins and faux pearls, the detail  looks like its worth much more than the £75 it is priced at.

Gold-Tone Hoop Earrings by Grosse c.1960’s

£45.00

Clip earrings remind me of something my mother would have put in my dressing up box as a child. They look beautifully crafted with “Grosse© 1967 Germany” inscribed in them. This is the maker’s signature for Henkel & Grosse who made jewellery collections for Christian Dior, bearing Dior’s name. I would wear with ethnic inspired prints this summer and little else in terms of accessories.

1980’s Black Faux Leather Envelope Clutch Bag

£15.00

A cheap vintage find, this 80’s envelope clutch bag with wrist handle has a modern touch to it with its simple design. Consequently an ability to work with the most casual of outfits too.

A Vintage Touch

How to make an old dress outshine the most expensive of outfits with one simple touch…

Attach this dress clip to the part you want to highlight on a garment and jazz up your wardrobe instantly. Dress clips are usually worn in the same way as a brooch. However, with a little imagination, they can be attached to many other items in your existing wardrobe to add instant ‘sparkle’ and interest. Try it on dresses but also hats, scarves, tops and add to chunky neck jewellery to update and individualise your look.

Fashion Do’s And Dont’s At The Royal Wedding

Watched by an estimated 2 billion across the world, the Royal Wedding of the year did not fail to amaze us in the fashion stakes with about 1,900 guests invited to the service at Westminster Abbey and 1,900 critical comments too!

Princesses Beatrice wore peach Valentino with Eugenie turning to Westwood for her bold outfit choice, both sporting Phillip Treacy hats and also managing to make their way onto the worst dressed list with their crazy ensemble of designs and colour. The dressed down Samantha Cameron wore a silk crepe Burberry dress but with no hat or fascinator, only an orange scarf and hair-slide by Erickson Beamon to decorate her hair, she left everyone thinking that it was dress down day!

The best dressed goes to the obvious attendee Catherine Middleton who wore a stunning Sarah Burton creation two times on her big day. Best dressers included the below Lady Frederick Windsor and Princess Mathilde. Also on the list is Charlene Wittstock, the fiancée of Prince Albert of Monaco who wore a stunning fitted grey hat and coat combo by Akris. Sophie, Countess of Wessex makes my list too with a champagne embellished skirt suit with matching clutch, belt and a statement of a hat. I can’t fail to mention how dapper the Princes looked on the day in they Royal military attire and cheeky grins!

Other designers were failed to be mentioned on the big day, all being out done by the glamorous new Princess. Giorgio Armani dressed Lady Frederick Windor, HRH Princess Mathilde of Belgium and HRH Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark for the celebrations. Lady Frederick Windsor, for the dinner, wore a long Giorgio Armani Privé one shoulder dress in gunmetal grey silk chiffon with an embroidered feature on the bust in the same colour. For the Royal Wedding ceremony, she chose a Giorgio Armani Privé cocktail dress in navy blue silk cady, choosing to wear it with a short coat in silk jacquard fabric with a glossy/opaque checkerboard pattern.

Links of London Gets A Royal Approval

Kate Middleton and Cat Deeley wear

Links of London

Kate Middleton was on the cover of all of the papers yesterday leaving her house for the last time as a single lady wearing her Links of London White Topaz Hope earrings!

She always manages to look glamorous and perfectly preened in whatever she wear. I can’t wait to see how her style will change as she develops into a Princess.

Also spotted was the lovely Cat Deely who wore Links of London jewellery exclusively whilst covering the Royal Wedding for CNN all of this week and on the big day tomorrow.

Yesterday she teamed her black Mulberry shorts with a layered silver and black pearl look with pieces from our brand new collections – Effervescence Star, Effervescence Pearl and Silver Palm.  Steal her Royal Wedding Day style while she does the live coverage tomorrow!
