Look Of The Day
What is it about the scruffy, some would call preppy look of uni students that make us all follow suit? That look of tea dresses and grandma cardigans and pixie shoes?
Whatever the reason, the look oozes effortless weekend cool and takes little thought to put the outfit together. Take some inspiration from below…
Wear your tea dresses with…
Old style pixie shoes and tights or ankle socks.
The countdown has begun! With all the talk and excitement of new season trends we forget what season we’re actually in! Here are some hints and tips on how to update your old dresses and re-use them this New Year if you have a last-minute panic for an outfit…
Tights – I have seen lots of gorgeous patterned tights everywhere, in shops and on celebs. I particularly love the hold up effect and sheer styles with a back seam for New Year to re-vamp old dresses. If you have good legs why not make them the center piece?
Belt Up – Pull in your mince-pie waist and fix together any look by belting up your dress at the smallest part of your waist. Try a contrasting colour or an unusual pattern to add a different focus on your outfit. Try elegant gold twist styles to break up a block colour or black fabric rose belts to add another dimension. Try something unusual for a conversation starter.
Shoes – Add some sparkly shoes for more of a festive party look. The higher the heel the better!
Statement jewelery – Add a bold jeweled necklace to any dress and it will instantly update and glam up your look. If you don’t have one simply use any necklaces you DO have and layer them up.
Shrugs – Add a sequined shrug to cover up aswell as adding some extra sparkle. It’s always good to decorate the top half of an outfit more as this is all that gets seen in pictures remember!
Happy New Year!
